Biography

Nature is one of the first places Fred likes to look for inspiration, having been brought up in the depths of the Dorset countryside. Much of his time is spent reading and drawing, using his imagination and perfecting his technique. When looking at some of Fred’s artwork, you might be forgiven not to recognise any maths in it, but there are definitely some meticulously worked out geometric patterns, intricate fractals and altogether warped perspectives.

A fascination with the unusual led him to study patterns in nature, and ignited a fascination with early primordial creatures and ultimately, all the beautiful, natural symmetry which is so inherent in every living thing.  He believes our biggest mistake is pretending that existence is normal and not accepting the beautiful, insane, surreal enchantment of earthbound existence.

Having done extensive drawing on sketch book paper, Fred still has many complex ideas which have yet to find their way onto canvas, but after much experimentation, he has found that a combination of acrylics and then oil paints are his preferred mediums to bring them to life.

As an accomplished artist, Fred is still exploring different ways of creating original sculptures and paintings. In doing so, he will endeavour to include many hidden aspects of the natural world in all of its diverse splendour and capture some of the many weird and wonderful forms of life.
